YOU DON’T CARE//
YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT ME//
BECAUSE I DON’T//
BECAUSE I DON’T DESERVE IT//

I have a great new mantra
to sit with on the shower floor
and prune into my fingers
mix into this body wash that smells
like some kind of stupid flower
or a fruit I can’t afford

you are the flora I can’t afford
in a country where the currency
is called being a good person

you are a christmas present
I had to give back

you are the tension in my face
when I’ve forgotten to do something
and then realize it was to stop
being inherently unloveable

I am begging at your feet like a dog now
I am sleeping at your side like a wife
I would settle for becoming a stone
in your shoe, a pebble you palm,
some talisman that weighs you down

same as you wear on me
