if only
we were

better
poets

we could
write
a poem

for each

other

every day

if only
you were
a better
poet

if only

you could

i want to
try it
all ways
not-quite
southern
jazz
and
i want
to practice
a dance
with kicks

going to
the place
like
the other
place

he can’t
get
on top

they
go back
for more
on a
stone bench
watch
people in
red

the little boy
the little girl
the flower
in her hair

food kills
stop eating

the pillowtop
sleeps
changing

backwards
the cat
shitting in
new places
the old
couple
their
dollar menu

a free
cup
of water
rolls off
the car
in reverse

he yells
at her
sleeping

he wants to
stare
into her
vagina

to have
a soul
